Dr. Kara Gebhardt-Tessman, MS DVM

Dr Kara has always been obsessed with animals, especially horses. Early on she thought she would be a veterinarian, but in college at UW-Stevens Point she became immersed in the wildlife field. She obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Idaho studying population of genetics of wild parrots in South America. After living in the west for several years, she returned to her roots in Wisconsin, graduating from UW- Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and founded Cranberry Country Equine Veterinary Service in 2017. Her family’s livelihoods are intimately intertwined with the cranberry industry, which inspired the business name. Dr. Kara’s professional interests include equine reproduction, dentistry, and lameness evaluation/imaging. Her favorite pieces of equipment are her ultrasound and her Powerfloat. She enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter on their beef and horse farm. If she is not working, you’ll find her at home totally engrossed in some new project (right now its sourdough bread and raising finches), trail riding with the horses she’s raised, or planting flowers.
